A study on the structure of tree communities was conducted in the Kemasul Forest Reserve, Temerloh, Pahang. This forest is a logged lowland dipterocarp forest surrounded by oil palm plantations. Two plots, each measuring 25 m × 20 m, were randomly established. The total study area was 0.1 hectare. All trees with a diameter at breast height (DBH) of 10.0 cm and above were tagged and measured. A total of 77 individuals from 47 species, 36 genera, and 19 families were recorded. Euphorbiaceae s.l. was the largest family, represented by eight species. Mallotus and Syzygium were the largest genera, each represented by three species. Two dipterocarp species, Shorea maxwelliana (Dipterocarpaceae) with a diameter of 57.7 cm and Dipterocarpus grandiflorus (Dipterocarpaceae) with a diameter of 52.0 cm, were among the three largest trees in the study plots. No individuals exceeding 70 cm DBH were recorded. This study provides preliminary information on the species composition and tree stand structure in logged lowland dipterocarp forests in the state of Pahang.
