Abstract

Abstract Nylon crystals are high-performance fibers that can considerably improve the concrete’s crack resistance and tensile strength. However, the effectiveness and long-term performance of nylon crystal reinforced geopolymer concrete pavements must be thoroughly investigated. Therefore, this study investigated the influence of incorporating fly ash (FA), ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), alkaline liquids (Na2SiO3 and NaOH) and nylon crystal reinforcement on the compressive strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength of geopolymer concrete pavement (GPC). The durability and water absorption of the above combination were also evaluated. Based on the results, improved compressive strength, flexural strength, splitting tensile strength, water absorption, and durability are present in the GPC+3%NC blend after 28 days. These enhancements are crucial for reducing the ecological effect related by production of cement. The utilization of nylon crystal reinforcement further enhances the sustainability of the pavement system by reducing the material and energy requirements compared to traditional reinforcement methods.
