Abstract

In order to maintain cooling performance, it is important to control the temperature distribution of the cargo room when using refrigerated containers. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of variation inlet velocity on the cooling speed inside a refrigerated container. This study was conducted through a computational fluid dynamic simulation validated with experimental results. The simulation was carried out on the four variations of inlet velocity from low speed to high-speed fan i.e. 4 m/s, 6 m/s, 8 m/s, and 10 m/s. The results of the simulation show that the greater the inlet fan speed, the faster the cooling speed. The results of this study indicate that the cooling speed difference between low-speed and high-speed fans is about 12 minutes.
